In 1985, I graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked at various teaching hospitals in specialty fields of Oncology, Geriatric, & Neurology.
In 2000, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Springfield with a Master's Degree in Human Development Counseling. I have been in private practice as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 2003.
I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults in individual, couple and family sessions. I have extensive training and experience in:
Weight management, eating disorders, couples counseling, family therapy, emotional abuse, childhood trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief counseling, ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome.
I have specialized training in Clinical Nursing, Eating Disorders, Marriage and Family Therapy, Play Therapy and principles of Theraplay. I have been member of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) and trained byAmerican Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) as an advanced hypnotherapist.
I have always enjoyed promoting physical and emotional health and well-being through my writing, lectures and workshops. For six years, I authored a healthy living column, Living Smart, for the State Journal Register in Springfield, IL and wrote numerous articles that can be found on: behealthyspringfield.com and other sites. My co-authored, self-published book, Freedom from Weight Worries Forever: The Weight Plan for Life.
My clients and I enjoy collaborating together, so they can have mastery over emotional states that had previously kept them stuck or shut down.
